NaBloPoMo 3: A Little in Love

by Acacia

I’ve been reading Maira Kalman’s And the Pursuit of Happiness which has something in common with Sarah Vowell’s Assassination Vacationboth authors have/had a smart-girl crush on Abraham Lincoln.

Maybe it’s because our generations grew up with Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Regan, Bush I, Bill Clinton, and Bush II. Because Lincoln’s legacy is tied to freedom and unity, instead of corporate interests, corruption and impeachment trials, guns for hostages and rule by people who’d rather believe that Jesus is magic instead of caring about the needs of their fellow citizens.

More tomorrow.
